Mud Control Project  - Perkins Cave - Home

On 7 August 2004 the Mud Control Project Team constructed rock paths across two areas on the main route that had rather sticky mud . This is the type of mud that sticks to cavers and is transported to other parts of the cave including onto pristine white mineral formations. Keeping the cavers out of the mud helps reduce this problem.

The rock walk paths in the Humming Room and the Bat Bone Walk areas were completed.  The Toothpaste Crawl remains to be done. Project workers are Terri Brown, Lauren Rexford, Don Feathers, Bill James, Greg McCoy, Joel Stevenson, Gary Fielden, and John M. Wilson photographer.

The Humming Room path is being constructed above the mud floor. Joel and Lauren haul rocks to the path work site.
The work crew rests on the completed raised walk area along with an unofficial mascot.
